Shaping Government policy to help your business
The competitive advantage of many businesses is driven by the skills and competencies of their staff. Skills gaps in Sussex are having a detrimental impact on future expansion.
A third of Sussex businesses say that skills shortages have been a major constraint on their business growth in the last 12 months. 76% have experienced at least one skills shortage over the same period.
Skills for Growth - The National Skills Strategy was published in November 2009 and looks to promote skills for economic prosperity. For a useful summary of the skills strategy click here
Sussex Enterprise contributed to the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) response to the UK Commission for Employment and Skills simplification agenda.
Our members took part in the British Chambers of Commerce Workforce Survey, looking at issues such as flexible working, migrant workers and recruitment.
Developing the skills of our workforce has never been more important as employers struggle to adapt and thrive through the current economic downturn. Sussex Enterprise offers a unique service which develops bespoke and tailored training courses to meet business needs. To find out more click here
